Backlit countertops that glow — real Cristallo quartzite kitchens in DFW

A backlit countertop turns a translucent natural stone into the light of the room. Our own Acue team does all of it — the stone, the LED backlighting and the installation — for islands, waterfall ends and full-height backsplashes across Dallas–Fort Worth, like the Cristallo kitchen we built in Frisco. Need new cabinets too? We supply and install those as well.

Two backlit Cristallo kitchens — and how the light goes in.

The first clip is a gold-toned Cristallo quartzite kitchen in Frisco: the island, the waterfall end and the full-height backsplash are all lit. The second is a white Cristallo waterfall island. The third shows the part most people never see — the LED light panel laid over the cabinets and waterfall end before the stone goes on.

How it's built — LED light panel first, then the stone
Why backlit stone

Natural stone by day. A glowing centerpiece at night.

Cristallo is a translucent quartzite — light passes through it and lights up the crystal veining from inside. With the lights off it is a white or soft-gold natural stone countertop; switched on, the island or backsplash becomes the main light of the kitchen.

It works on kitchen islands and waterfall ends, full-height backsplashes, bar tops, bathroom vanities and fireplace or feature walls. Only translucent stones glow, so we help you choose the slab before anything is cut.

How we build it
  1. Pick the slab. See translucent quartzite at our Carrollton showroom and choose the pieces for your island and backsplash.
  2. Measure & template. We measure your cabinets, waterfall ends and walls and plan where the veins and seams fall.
  3. Light panel first. Our Acue team lays an LED light panel over the cabinet base and waterfall end so the light spreads evenly behind the stone — no outside lighting crew.
  4. Set the stone. The fabricated quartzite is installed on top — then the lights go on.

New cabinets with it? We can build the whole kitchen — cabinets, backlit stone and installation — so one team is responsible from start to finish.

Backlit countertops

Questions people ask us about backlit stone.

Which stones can be backlit?

Only translucent stone lets light through — quartzites like Cristallo, and onyx. Most granite, marble and standard quartz are too dense, so they stay dark. Bring your idea to the showroom and we'll show you which slabs glow before you choose.

Where can I use a backlit countertop?

Kitchen islands and waterfall ends, full-height backsplashes, bar tops, bathroom vanities and fireplace or feature walls. The island and backsplash in our Frisco kitchen are both lit.

How does the light go under the stone?

Our own Acue team does the backlighting — no separate lighting company. The cabinet base and any waterfall end get an LED light panel first, then the stone is set on top, as in the video above. The light spreads evenly behind the slab, so you see the stone's veins glow instead of separate light spots.

Does a backlit countertop look good with the lights off?

Yes. Cristallo is a natural quartzite, so with the lights off it reads as a white or soft-gold stone countertop with crystal-like veining. The light is the extra, not the whole look.

What goes into the price of a backlit countertop?

The slab you choose, the size and number of lit areas, waterfall ends, cutouts, the lighting and electrical work, and installation. We don't publish prices — every slab and layout is different — but the estimate is free and spells out exactly what's included.
